Coytes based on Mike Matthews Band. Born and raised on the Ohio River in the Midwestern United States Michael Matthews was raised on country music. Time and career changes took him around the world pulling many styles and influences together. In the last 20 years many real life experiences have been documented in song and brought alive by the joining of musical talents of others.

While on a work assignment in Vaasa Finland  in June 2004, Michael and Jesse met by chance at the city center. With an invitation from Jesse, an old friend Mika came, bringing percussion and recording experience to informal home recording sessions. With the trio looking at further growth, in stepped Veli Matti bringing a solid electric sound to the group. All shared a common interest in the music of Johnny Cash, Steve Earle and Neil Young. When Mike got back in States it was time to change the concept.  Mika got his other challenges and  luckily we got  two new fine mucisians with.  Veli Matti's partners Simppa supplied drums and Skugge  bass guitar and so was Jesse &Coyotes formed.
